At a distance of 4 km from Palitana Bus Station, Shri Vishal Jain Museum is a museum situated in Taleti area of Palitana. Situated at the foot of the Shantrujaya Hills, it is one of its kind museum in India and among the best places to visit in Palitana.
Named after a great Jain Acharya Vishalsen Suriji, the museum is dedicated to Jain heritage and culture. The stories and legends about this enigmatic religion are pictorially depicted here. It is one of the very few rare museums in the world dedicated entirely to the history of Jainism.
The museum houses an excellent collection of artifacts, excavated idols from earlier temples, coins and ancient manuscripts written on palm leaves. For those interested in the history of Jainism, there is an exhibit on the life of Lord Mahavira. This museum also exhibits some remarkable exhibits of Jain artwork and artifacts up to 500 years old and beautiful ivory carvings. In addition, one can also see is a circular temple with mirror walls and centuries-old images of four Tirthankaras in the basement of the museum.
