At a distance of 68 km from Kullu, 15 km from Banjar and 5 km from Jalori Pass, Shoja is a beautiful village situated in less known Seraj valley.
Shoja is situated at an altitude of 2368 m in the inner Seraj region just below Jalori Pass that marks the southern limit of the Kullu valley. Located close to the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), the village offers some breathtaking views of the Tirthan valley below.
Shoja is located 5 km down Jalori Pass and remains relatively undisturbed as it is a little away from the popular tourist tracks leading to Shimla or Kullu. The place is an ideal retreat and is best visited to just relax and watch the lush green forests. June is the best time to visit when the iris flowers are in full bloom and the whole valley turns blue.
The Sareolsar Lake, Raghupur Fort, Waterfall Point, Jalori Pass and Tirthan Valley are the few tourist attractions around Shoja. The Jalori pass is popular for its vigorous metal road that connects Shoja with Shimla and other nearby places.
The Waterfall Point is one of the popular destinations in Shoja that can be reached by 1 km walk from Shoja. The trek to Raghupur Fort is short but little difficult trail.
The only accommodation option in Shoja is the Banjara Retreats property. It has well kept ten double rooms and two family suites. The more adventurous can seek out the Forest Rest House or the PWD Rest House nearby.
The best time to visit Shoja is during May and June. Shoja can be reached by vehicles from Kullu or public buses plying to Jalori Pass.
