At a distance of 65 km from Shimla, Manjathal Sanctuary is a protected reserve situated in the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. Situated on the Shimla-Bilaspur Highway, it is one of the best places to visit as part of Shimla wildlife packages.

Situated at an elevation of 1400 meters, Manjathal Sanctuary is found in the western part of the Himalayas, encompassing an area of 55 square kilometers. Renowned for its rugged and hilly landscapes, the sanctuary is also distinguished by its towering pine trees. The rich biodiversity within Manjathal Sanctuary makes it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

The sanctuary hosts a variety of flora and fauna, including numerous endangered species. Among its inhabitants are the cheer pheasant, Goral (a small goat-like creature with cylindrical horns), Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard, Rhesus Macaque, Jungle Cat, Himalayan Palm Civet, Yellow-Throated Marten, Barking Deer, Sambar, Indian Wild Bear, and Langur. Additionally, several reptile species, such as the king cobra, common krait, and Indian python, can be found here. Rare avian species, including the black francolin and the oriental white-backed vulture, are also present in the sanctuary.

Access to the sanctuary is not available via jeep safari. Visitors may engage in guided tours to observe wildlife, partake in nature walks, and enjoy birdwatching. The sanctuary is also notable for a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Harsang Dev. The most effective way to experience the sanctuary's natural beauty is by trekking along the well-defined trails within the park. Accommodation options include jungle houses.

Travelers can access the sanctuary via the Shimla-Bilaspur Road. Due to the lack of direct transportation, tourists must stop at Kashlog, located along the Shimla-Bilaspur Road, and then proceed on foot to the sanctuary. The winter season is regarded as the optimal time for a visit to this sanctuary.
