The Lower Manair Dam (LMD) is built across the Manair River, a tributary of Godavari River. The construction of the dam was started in 1974 and was finished in 1985. The gross storage capacity of the reservoir is 24 TMC. The project serves as a balancing reservoir for Kakatiya Canal and regulates flow below Lower Manair Dam for an ayacut of 5,65,452 acres.
