Travel Tips: Note: Chunchi falls is 13.5 Kms from Sangama and can be visited together. From Sangama, take diversion on Kanakapura road after 8.5 kms from Sangama towards Harro Shivanahalli (Chunchi falls is 5 kms from diversion).

At a distance of 83 km from Bangalore, and 101 km from Mysore, Chunchi Falls is a serene waterfall situated near Harro Shivanahalli near Bangalore. It is one of the popular waterfalls near Bangalore, and among the must include places in Bangalore Tour Packages.

Lies en route to Mekedatu and Sangama, Chunchi Falls is formed over River Arkavathi and is one of the most visited tourist places near Bangalore. It drops down from a height of about 50 feet through multiple tiers into a small pool. It is an ideal place to swim, play & relax in water amidst naturally formed rock formations.

Located on the edge of the Western Ghats, the waterfall is surrounded by rocky hills and lush vegetation, which make the scene quite picturesque. On the way to Chunchi Falls, travellers also come across a watchtower from where one can get a panoramic 360-degree view of the rocky terrain adorned with deciduous forest. There is a power station ahead of Chunchi Falls. After the installation of the power station, the amount of water has reduced significantly in the Chunchi falls.

This place is usually crowded on weekends. A little walk is required from the nearest road point to reach the falls. The place is a little dangerous due to the slippery rocks and deep gorge on the way to the falls. It is advised to be careful while swimming.

After Kanakpura, take a deviation towards Sangama and drive for about 21 km and take another deviation after Dodda Alahalli and drive 6.5 km via Harro Shivanahalli to reach Chunchi falls. The route to Chunchi Falls is full of greenery. Limited public transportation facilities from Kanakapura, preferably, take your own transportation.

Post-monsoons and winter are the best seasons to visit. Chunchi Falls is usually visited along with Sangama & Mekedatu (13.5 km away) with about 2 hours extra effort.
