About Mallali Falls

At a distance of 54 km from Madikeri & 23 km from Somvarpet, Mallali Falls is a magnificent waterfall situated in the foothills of the Pushpagiri Mountains in the Coorg district of Karnataka. It is one of the most scenic waterfalls in Karnataka and also one of the popular Coorg tourist places.

Height of Mallali Falls

Formed by the Kumaradhara River, Mallali Falls drops down from a height of 200 feet and is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Coorg. The Kumaradhara River later flows through Kukke Subrahmanya and merges with the Netravati River at Uppinangadi, which then empties into the Arabian Sea at Mangalore. The surroundings of the waterfall provide a spectacular view of green forests, valleys, and mountain ranges.

Best Time to Visit Mallali Falls

The ideal time to visit Mallalli Falls is during the monsoons, from June to September when the water level is at its peak and flows at full speed. Even the greenery around is at its best during this time. During the summer season, the water of the fall almost dries down.

How to Reach Mallali Falls

Mallali Falls is about 5 km from Kumaralli. There is a motorable road up to 3 km from Kumaralli to Chiguru Homestay. From Chiguru, Mallalli Falls is a 2 km walk on a newly laid concrete road. One has to get down approx 400 steps to go much nearer to the falls. From Somvarpet there are very few buses to Kumaralli which is the nearest village to waterfalls. Hiring a private vehicle is a better way to reach Mallalli Falls from Somvarpet. There are no shops/restaurants near the falls so it is always better to carry food.

Swimming at Mallali Falls
