At a distance of 6 km from Ambikanagar and 24 km from Dandeli Bus Stand, Sykes Point is the top viewpoint in Dandeli and also one of the famous places of sightseeing in Dandeli.
It is a popular sightseeing attraction offering a beautiful view of deep valleys and thickly forested hills. Sykes Point is named after a British engineer who discovered it. From this viewpoint, one can get a good view of Nagzari River & River Kali confluence.
The viewpoint also offers a beautiful view of the sunset. Bird watchers frequent the site to watch the giant hornbills at this place. The Nagzari Power House of the Kali Project is situated at the bottom of the hill. Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) operates this power station. The surge tank, water moving facility, which feeds the turbines of Nagzari Power House, is located near Sykes Point. Kavala Caves are situated nearer to this point.
