Moodabidri has 18 Jain basadis, the most famous being the 1000 Pillared Temple dedicated to Chandranatha. The temple is also known as Savirakambha Basadi & Hosa Basadi. The uniqueness of this temple is that no two pillars are identical. This temple was built in 1430 AD under the ruler Devaraja Wodeyar of Nagamangala. The temple has a valuable collection of metal, jewel carved images of Jain tirthankars. The 2 meter high panchaloha image of Chandranatha is a special attraction.
