At a distance of 47 Kms from Trivandrum and 22 Kms from Kollam, Paripally is famous for Gajamela (Elephant Pageant) conducted in Feb/March. It is located in Kollam district between Trivandrum and Kollam.
The Gajamela is conducted on 10th day of the festival celebrated in the month of Feb/March. Around 50 elephants are taken out on a ritual procession. The elephants in these processions are offered as Nercha (ritual offerings to the deity for prosperity) by devotees at the temple of the Goddess Bhadrakali.
Paripally is situated on NH47 between Kollam and Trivandrum and all the buses between Trivandrum and Kollam stop here.
