At a distance of 8 km from Bhopal Junction, the Regional Museum of Natural History is a museum located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Situated near Shahpur Lake, it is one of the famous museums in Bhopal, and among the best tourist places in Bhopal.
The Regional Museum of Natural History was inaugurated on 29th September 1997 by Saifuddin Soz, the then Minister of Environment and Forests of India. It is a branch of the National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi. The Museum deals with general aspects of natural history depict the flora, fauna, and ecosystems of the region, and promotes conservation and environmental awareness through its exhibit galleries and educational activities.
The museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the biodiversity in which the interconnection of various components of nature, besides the information of the vegetation and the rivers Madhya Pradesh, has been shown in connection with the protection and relationship of human and the environment. In the galleries located in the museum, the exhibition has been displayed in collaboration with transcripts, translation, and visual audio. Dioramas and phenomena are presented in the order of selected subjects. It also has a bio-computer and a research room meant for children to acquire knowledge in a fun way. A temporary exhibition site is also made on its premises which exhibit organized displays on various subjects from time to time.
