The simple and imposing Koshak Mahal was built in 1445 CE by the Sultan of Malwa, Mahmood Shah Khilji, to commemorate his victory over Sultan Mahmood Sharki at Kalpi. Shahzadi Ka Rauza was built in the 15th century by the Governor of Chanderi, Hakim in memory of his daughter Mehrunnisa. It stands as a metaphor for unfulfilled love. As per the legend, Mehrunnisa fell in love with a commoner, which her father did not approve of, and sent assassins to kill him. When the princess got to know, she rushed to him but by that time he had lost the battle of life. Unable to accept this fate, she too ended herself. Steeped in grief, Hakim buried the star-crossed lovers together and built the memorial. He also dug a pond around so that no one can reach the tomb. The pond does not exist today, but Shehzadi ka Roza stands as a striking monument in the middle of green fields.

There is an inscription in two scripts, one being Devnagari, so we know that the gateway was commissioned by one Jiman Khan who was the son of Sher Khan, Governor of Chanderi, in 1495 AD.

Battisi Baodi or Baoli is the largest step-well in Chanderi. According to the inscriptions, the work on the stepwell was started by a Taghi during the reign of Sultan Ghyasuddin Khilji and was completed in the year 1484 AD. The inscription also tells us that in addition to the stepwell, a garden, and a mosque which has been compared to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, was also built. It is believed that the water remains at the same level inside the well throughout the year.
The stepwell is square in shape with a dimension of 60 feet by 60 feet and has a depth of around four storeys. The stairs start from the main entrance and lead to the base of the well.
