At a distance of 2 km from Chiplun Bus Station, Pandav Caves is a group of Buddhist caves situated in Chiplun. It is one of the historical places in Maharashtra, and among the popular places to visit in Chiplun.
Also known as Chiplun Caves, Pandav Leni has 3 caves and belongs to the Buddhist sect as evident from the structure. The main cave is a Mahadev temple, the left one has a trunk, a photo of goddess Lakshmi and an old idol. The stupa inside the first cave looks like it was broken and then converted into Mahadev temple. The laterite well built near to the Datta temple is thought to have been built by the Pandavas, and hence the caves got its name.
Next to the caves is a small rock-cut water cistern and the water doesn't look potable. In monsoon, a small waterfall would be present there which was evident from the rocks present there, forming a path for the waterfall. You can visit these caves anytime throughout the year. It will take 15 minutes to see the entire surrounding of the caves.
