At a distance of 2 km from Pachad, 3 km from Raigad Fort and 83 km from Mahabaleshwar, the Raigad Museum is situated at the lower station of Raigad Fort near Raigad Ropeway Station at Hirekan Wadi. It is one of the prime attractions in Raigad.
The Raigad Museum has been created with the help of stalwarts of the Maratha history like Sri Ninadji Bedekar and Sri Babasaheb Purandare. The museum exhibits photographs of various forts in Shivaji's Empire along with artifacts, Farmans and weapons used in those historic times.
The Maharashtra Tourism and Development Corporation (MTDC) spent Rs 15 crore for this museum. The museum is depicting the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his mother Veermata Jijabai. A film show on the Raigad Fort created by a panel of historians offers a preview of various facets of this illustrious monument and it makes the trip meaningful and unforgettable.
