At a distance of 14 km from Pune Junction, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a Hindu temple situated at Narhe suburb of Pune. Located on National Highway 48, it is one of the prominent places to visit as part of Pune tour packages.

The BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Pune is dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan and is one of the 1,100 temples established and overseen by the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) globally. This temple was inaugurated on February 19, 2017, and is notable for its exceptional architectural design and meticulous organization. The temple was completed within a span of 24 months using exclusively stone materials, without the incorporation of steel.

The temple exemplifies traditional Nagara-style architecture, characterized by intricately carved marble and sandstone structures that embody a rich cultural legacy. It measures approximately 184.6 feet in length, 181.6 feet in width, and 74.6 feet in height, encompassing a total area of 33,523.36 square feet. The design follows the Southern Shilpa Shaili style, crafted by Sompura. The entire structure is adorned with pink sandstones and red stones sourced from Rajasthan. The Mandir features 23 samrans, including 7 larger ones that enhance the temple's aesthetic appeal from a distance. The intricate carvings were executed by hand in Rajasthan and assembled in Lilburn, resembling a large 3-D puzzle. The temple is supported by 140 intricately carved pillars and includes approximately 109 exquisite toran, showcasing 10,269 carved sculptures and deities.

The artistry of the carved pillars, walls, and ceilings is truly remarkable. Within the temple, there is an Abishek Mandap where devotees perform rituals by pouring water over the idol of Bhagwan Swaminarayan while reciting prayers and mantras. The Aksharpith Book Store, situated within the temple grounds, offers a wide array of literature on Hinduism, meditation music CDs, herbal health products, temple postcards, and gifts suitable for all ages and preferences. Additionally, a vegetarian canteen named Premvati serves traditional dishes on the premises, complemented by beautifully landscaped areas and walking paths.

The temple is renowned for its celebrations of Diwali and Annakut, as well as the Sanatan Dharma Sant Sammelan, particularly during the Shatabdi Celebration of Guruhari Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
