The Tribal Cultural Museum, also known as the Tribal Museum Pune, was founded in 1965 on the grounds of the Tribal Research & Training Institute. This museum is dedicated to the 47 tribal communities of Maharashtra, illustrating their cultural practices and belief systems through various aspects of their daily lives. The museum provides an in-depth view, particularly of the communities residing in the Sahyadri and Gondhavana regions of the state.

The museum houses approximately 1,350 artifacts organized into five distinct sections. The 'Tribes At a Glance' section offers a concise overview of 18 prominent tribes in Maharashtra, categorized by four geographical areas: Konkan, Marathwada, Gondwana, and Satpuda. This area also features significant material culture related to these major tribes. In the Tribal Material Culture section, visitors can explore a variety of musical instruments, household tools, hunting gear, and agricultural implements.

The famous Warli paintings, which depict various themes of tribal life, are displayed alongside a selection of Bohada masks from the Thane and Nashik districts in the Tribal Art & Craft section. The Ornaments & Tribal Deities section prominently features jewelry from the Maria, Bhil, Pawara, Korku, Warli, and Kokna tribes, as well as wooden combs, tobacco containers, and metal crafts that hold both ornamental and ritual significance. A central courtyard is dedicated to showcasing traditional huts from the Madia, Kolam, Warli, and Korku tribes.
