At a distance of 3 km from Alwar Railway Station, Jagannath Temple is a Hindu temple located in Alwar, India. It is one of the must-include places in Alwar family packages.

Jagannath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is presiding in the form of Lord Jagannath of Puri. The temple complex encompasses various shrines honoring the deities associated with the Jagannath cult, including Lord Krishna, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, and several other Hindu deities. The two principal shrines are dedicated to Lord Jagannath and Goddess Durga.

This grand temple, which has stood for 800 years, showcases remarkable medieval architecture, with its walls and pillars adorned with exquisite floral motifs. Within the main sanctum sanctorum, there are two idols of Lord Jagannath: one is a fixed idol, while the other is an utsav murthy. The fixed deity, known as Budhe Jagannath, is significantly older and is accessible for darshan only during the five days of the Rath Yatra.

The temple is particularly famous for its annual Rath Yatra festival, during which Lord Jagannath is transported in a chariot known as Indra Vimana. This chariot, originally an elephant carriage, was previously utilized by the former Maharaja of Alwar and was later donated to the temple for the Rath Yatra. The Rath Yatra festival is characterized by different traditions and rituals compared to those in Puri, as it forms part of the annual wedding celebration between Lord Jagannath and Goddess Janaki at Roopbas. This event is a significant fair in the district, attracting devotees from various backgrounds to the temple. The Department of Tourism organizes cultural events at the Jagannathji mela each year.
