At a distance of 3 km from Alwar Railway Station, Moti Dungri, or Moti Doongri is a hillock situated in Alwar, Rajasthan. It is one of the prominent places to visit as part of Alwar tour packages.
Moti Doongri is graced by the presence of Moti Doongri Palace, which was originally constructed in 1882. Until 1928, it served as the primary residence for the royal family of Alwar. Following that year, Maharaja Jai Singh made the decision to dismantle the old palace and subsequently erected a more splendid structure in its place. Currently, the site features exquisite gardens and scenic viewpoints.
Additionally, Moti Doongri houses a significant holy shrine that attracts both Hindus and Muslims for prayer. The Sankat Mochan Vir Hanuman Mandir and Sayyed Darbar are situated within the same complex, representing a spirit of unity and harmony. Each Thursday, the atmosphere is enriched by the sounds of Bhajans in the morning and Qawwali in the evening, creating a captivating ambiance. The mingling scents of camphor, ghee, and lobaan fill the air, while the flags of Saffron, Green, and the Tricolour flutter together, enhancing the enchanting essence of the location.
There is also a children park with a couple of rides and snack points as well. Access to the hilltop is available via a motorable road or by ascending the stairs. From the summit, one can enjoy a beautiful view of Alwar, particularly at night.
