At a distance of 17 km from Jaipur Railway Station, Hathni Kund is an ancient water pond situated in the Aravalli range in Jaipur. It is one of the must-include places in Jaipur adventure packages.

Hathni Kund, also known as Hathuni Kund, is among the most sought-after trekking destinations during the monsoon season in Jaipur. The allure of the waterfall and the vibrant greenery of the area draw numerous locals and tourists to this enchanting location. Local lore suggests that Hathni Kund is the source of the Dravyawati River, which meanders through the city of Jaipur. It is said that a dam constructed by Raja Sawai Madho Singh II was destroyed during the floods of 1982, leading to the formation of Hathni Kund.

The term 'Hathni Kund' translates to 'elephant pond,' aptly describing the tranquil pond enveloped by lush vegetation. During the monsoon, a steady stream of water cascades down, creating a stunning waterfall. The vistas encountered upon reaching Hathni Kund are truly awe-inspiring. Adjacent to the Kund lie the Hathuneshwar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, as well as a temple honoring the monkey god Hanuman.

There are two primary trails leading to Hathni Kund from Jaipur. The first route, starting from Charan Mandir-a historic Hanuman Temple believed to be 400-500 years old-covers approximately 1.5 kilometers to Hathni Kund. This path is shorter and generally considered safer than the alternative. During the monsoon season, it is common to encounter many trekkers on this route. The second trail, which traverses the Vidhyadhar Nagar Jungle, is less frequented and passes through dense forest, making it a longer journey to reach Hathni Kund. This route is home to wildlife, including black panthers and leopards, so it is advisable to hire a guide or take extra precautions if choosing this path.

The best time to visit Hathni Kund is during the monsoon season when the landscape is lush and vibrant, accompanied by the melodious sounds of chirping birds. Additionally, the waterfall is only present during this season, as it remains dry at other times of the year.
