At a distance of 9 km from Jaipur Railway Station, Sisodia Rani Palace & Garden is a palace garden in located on the Jaipur- Agra highway in the Jaipur city of Rajasthan. It is one of famous places to visit as part of Jaipur honeymoon packages.
Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1728 for his second queen. This gift was intended to provide her with a serene retreat from the complexities and intrigues of royal court life. The garden, known as Sisodia Rani Garden and Palace, is named after the queen, who belonged to the Sisodia lineage of the Suryavanshi (Sun dynasty) Rajputs, rulers of the Mewar region in Rajasthan. Sisodia Rani Bagh has designed to complement the architecture of the palace.
The step garden features three levels of verdant lawns, centered on a fountain area. The uppermost level houses the double-storeyed Sisodia Rani Palace. The architectural elements of the palace including chhatris, pillars, and courtyards reflect a blend of Indian and Mughal styles. They are adorned with intricate paintings and murals depicting Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha.
The second and third levels contain smaller garden spaces that run parallel to the entrance of the palace. The lowest tier of the step garden is more expansive, featuring a central water fountain. Pathways with water channels converge at the fountain, dividing the garden into four equal sections. Each lawn is bordered by shrubs and trees, with some areas adorned with decorative climbing plants. The middle tiers are equipped with pavilions and staircases, facilitating access to the various levels.
Despite its modest size, the step garden serves as a peaceful retreat in the hot and arid climate of Jaipur. Peacocks can often be seen wandering through the garden. This location has also been a popular filming site, most notably for the acclaimed movie 'Lamhe,' featuring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. Visitors can easily explore this attraction in a short time, making it an ideal stop for tourists traveling from Moti Dungri or en route to Agra.
The best time to explore this garden is in the mornings or the evenings as the place is not densely covered with trees and the afternoon heat could become unbearable.
