Surrounded by cardamom forests and tea estates, Bison Valley derives its name from the Indian Bison that roams in large numbers throughout this area. Besides, the tree has a diverse range of wildlife animals in its natural habitat, including tigers, bears, elephants, deer, etc. Here, one can also spot various birds roaming from here to there. Morning droves, drongos, bulbul, shrikes, and woodpeckers are some of the common birds to spot here.

There are 36 hairpin bends' from the valley toward Ooty, so the police did not let any car descend the same road to make the rather dangerous descent (be prepared for a deviation toward Gudalur!)

At a distance of 70 km from Madurai, Vaigai Dam is a giant dam situated at Andipatti near Madurai. It is one of the popular places to visit during your Madurai Trip.
The Vaigai Dam is built in the year 1959 across the Vaigai River. The dam measures 111 ft in height and the total storage capacity is 6,143 mcft. Counted as one of the most famous tourist places near Madurai, the dam has been the lifeline of the agricultural lands in the districts of Madurai and Dindigul. It also provides drinking water to Madurai and Andipatti. It also harbours a musical fountain that operates on weekends and public holidays. Over the years, the site has become a favourite picnic spot as it gets beautifully illuminated in the evenings especially on weekends, and one can spend hours admiring the splendid view.
