At a distance of 14 km from Valparai Bus Station, Chinna Kallar Falls is a spectacular waterfall situated at Chinna Kallar village near Valparai, Tamilnadu. It is one of the popular waterfalls near Coimbatore, and among the most visited Valparai sightseeing places.
Encapsulated by forests and narrow windy paths, Chinnakallar Falls is a stunning waterfall known for its wild scenic beauty. The area where this waterfall located is the third-highest rainfall receiving place in India after Mawsynram and Cherrapunji. A hanging bridge has been constructed over the waterfall which offers mesmerizing views of the roaring waterfalls amidst lush greenery. Chinnakallar is always shrouded by clouds and mist, mostly because of the heavy rainfall it receives throughout the year. It is one of the must-include places in Valparai holiday packages. Also, the place can be spotted in several Tamil cinemas like Suryavamsam.
Surrounded by dense greenery on all sides, the spectacular Chinnakallar Falls can be accessed by an adventurous 600 m trek through a narrow path of rough bushes. One can bathe in this waterfall but beware of leeches. It is also quite dangerous at times because it is a natural habitat of wild elephants which you may have to encounter on your way to the waterfalls. So, it is best if you pick up a proper time to visit the place along with the companion of a local guide.
Chinnakallar is best visited after the rains between November to May when there is minimal rainfall in the area and you can enjoy a trip to the falls without any hindrance to your plans. There aren't any shops around this place so better to pack your food and water as well.
