At a distance 6.5 km from Punganoor Lake and 7 km from Athanavur Bus Stop, Swamimalai hills is one of the highest peaks in Yelagiri measuring about 4626 ft above the sea level. This is one of the famous tourist places in Yelagiri Hills.

The Swamimalai hill is a favorite trekking and mountain climbing spot. It is a perfect place for those who love to enjoy the pleasure of trekking. From hill top, one can get the breathtaking views of the region.

Mangalam Village (3.5 kms from Punganoor Lake) is the starting point of the Swamimalai trek, which is 4 km from Athanavur Bus Stop. The trek to Swamimalai is 5 km both ways. Local people can guide visitors to the hill through dense forest. Normally it takes about 2 - 2.5 hrs to go up and come down. On reaching the top of the hill trekkers can find a small and well maintained Shiva temple. An iron ladder was built on the side of the rock. Visitors can use the ladder to climb up to watch fantastic view of the hills.

Make sure to carry water and snacks as there are no shops in the entire trek.
