This is an ancient temple built during Vijayanagar ruler Krishna Devaraya period. The deity is in a very angry posture.
According to the Puranas, Vyasa maharshi meditated for a long time for the manifestation of Sri Narasimha Swamy at Wadapally. Vishnu pleased with his penance and appeared before him in the form of Narasimha. Vyasa requests him to stay in Wadapally in the form of Narasimha to which Vishnu obliged.
