At a distance of 57 km from Abu Dhabi, the Emirates National Auto Museum is a national automobile museum located in Al Dhafra locality of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is one of the popular automobile museums in the UAE and among the best places to visit in Abu Dhabi.
The Emirates National Auto Museum displaying a rich collection of cars owned and used by HH Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan. He is the fourth son of the founder of UAE, the late president Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the younger brother of present UAE President Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. From showcasing the biggest, longest, oldest to the most expensive collection, it is among the top attractions in Abu Dhabi and can be visited while on the way to Liwa Oasis.
The opulent car collection of an eccentric Sheikh housed in his own private pyramid. There is a total of 200 vehicles including off-road vehicles, classic American cars and prototypes. Steam-powered Mercedes of 1885 being the oldest car along with the world's largest truck and newest glass-encased SUVs are some of the prized possession of the museum. The fascinating Mercedes 500 SELs collection bought by the Sheikh in 1983 in seven rainbow colors for each day of the week is the highlight of the place. And they are all built-in with amenities such as refrigerators and TV. Some of the collection was featured in the BBC television program Top Gear.
There are lots of military automobiles into which kids are permitted to mount and one has a golfing array on top. The Dodge comes in all sizes but none is as exciting as the 5-meter high model with a whole residence under its roof. Eight times oversized replica of a Dodge truck, this is a towable caravan and has four bedrooms inside. The collection also includes 4×4 Lamborghini, a world globe-shaped caravan with the facility of a house, Military vehicle like tanks, New York yellow taxi cab, an NYPD car and also a Red Cross vehicle. The museum also has 10 prototypes, racing cars, 1950's American & 1970's European limousines. The collection also has a Guinness record holder outsized model of a Willy Jeep.
