At a distance of 22 km from Sharjah, 31 km from Dubai, 113 km from Fujairah, 155 km from Abu Dhabi, and 701 km from Qatar, Ajman is one of the lesser-known of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Ajman is the capital of the emirate of the same name and among the top places to visit in UAE as part of Dubai Tour.
Located along the Persian Gulf, Ajman is the smallest emirate in the UAE with an area of a mere 260 square kilometres. The emirate lies between the emirates of Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. It is named after the city of Ajman, which is its seat of government. Approximately 95% of the population of the emirate resides in the city of Ajman, which forms part of the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area. Apart from the city of Ajman, the emirate also encompasses two landlocked exclaves, Manama and Masfout, both of which are primarily agricultural.
According to the history, the foundation of Ajman under Nuaimi rule took place in 1816, when Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and fifty of his followers took the coastal settlement of Ajman from the members of the Al Bu Shamis tribe in a short conflict. On 15th March 1820, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi signed the General Maritime Treaty with the United Kingdom at Falaya Fort. The Emirate of Ajman also experienced many other positive and negative events in history. However, it eventually joined the country of the United Arab Emirates under Sheikh Rashid bin Humayd Al Nuaimi on 2nd December 1971. Since then, this emirate has experienced strides on the front of the development.
Home to everything from ancient forts to luxurious resorts, there's plenty to see and do in Ajman. Ajman National Museum situated at Ajman Fort, Dhow Yard, Sheikh Zayed Ajman Mosque, Masfout Castle, the Red Fort, etc. are the top Ajman Tourist Places. Ajman has a beautiful 16-kilometre stretch of beach on the coast of the Arabian Gulf, along with mangrove forests and a natural harbour. Ajman's newly developed Al Zorah area is also getting a lot of tourist attention as it has multiple activities for all ages ranging from bouncy castles to kayaking in the mangroves.
