At a distance of 70 km from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, Jebel Jais is a mountain of the North-Western Hajar range in the Musandam Governorate of Oman and also in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. It is the tallest mountain in the UAE and among the must-visit Ras Al Khaimah Tourist Places.

Situated at 1,934 m above sea level, the Jebel Jais is part of the spectacular Hajar mountain range that was formed over 70 million years ago in the eastern part of Ras Al Khaimah, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. On the Omani side, the mountain is largely undeveloped, inaccessible, and far from any development, however, on the United Arab Emirates side, there has been a lot of development in recent years. A 30 km road has been built on the UAE side, which features eight hairpins and countless sharp corners, making it one of the best routes in the world. The road is 3 lanes, with 2 going up and going down.

Near the top of the road, a series of landscaped terraces with viewing platforms and cafes offer spectacular views that tumble over craggy peaks down to the coastal plain. With the smooth 30 km road snaking towards the peak, the mountain offers a challenging and beautiful backdrop for hikers, mountain bikers and those looking for a scenic driving route. Moreover, the temperature at the top is 10 - 13 degrees lower than that at sea level.

It is also home to the World's longest zip line stretching for 2.8 kilometers. It has become one of the United Arab Emirates' major adventure activities and the main draw for adrenaline junkies visiting the country. From the take-off point, near the summit of Jebel Jais, the zipline whips down the mountain, with zipliners traveling at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. As well as the thrill of the flight itself and the stupendous mountain scenery, a major highlight is landing on the halfway platform, which is suspended in mid-air. It is mandatory for every participant to bring their original passport or Emirates ID to be presented at the counter.
