Situated next to Sharjah Science Museum, it is one of the popular museums in the UAE and among the top places to visit in Sharjah.
Sharjah Archaeology Museum first established in the year 1993 and was moved to its current location in 1997. The museum contains archaeological artifacts discovered in Sharjah and its surrounding areas. With a treasure trove of pottery, jewellery, and weaponry on display, the museum sheds light on the lifestyle of the region's inhabitants from the Stone age up to the rise of Islam. The archaeological findings reveal the connections and relations between Sharjah inhabitants and their neighbors in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as with other civilizations. They also show the expansion of commercial relationships from the Indus Valley in the East to the Mediterranean islands in the West.
The museum is divided into four sections namely Stone Age, Bronze Age, The Iron Age, and Greater Arabia. The Stone Age section displays the technology of the people at that time through numerous flint pieces and source of food through the discovery of old seashells. The section also contains the pottery remains and decorative gems that were found in Al Hamriyah belonging to Obaid Period. There is much to delight history buffs, including a 2,000year-old golden bridle discovered at Mleiha and the findings of a Stone Age graveyard that contained the skeletons of 500 nomadic herders. The Bronze Age section has stones, jewellery, metals and pottery work on display. The Iron Age section exhibits several tools related to mining and construction for irrigation purposes while in Greater Arabia section one can see a lot of writing and coinage.
