At a distance of 3 km from Haridwar Junction Railway Station and 1 km from Har Ki Pauri, Bhimgoda Tank is a sacred tank situated in Haridwar.
The sacred tank is named after Bhima, the second of the five Pandavas in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. According to a legend, the sacred tank came into existence when Bhima hit his knee (Goda in Hindi) against the ground. It happened when the Pandavas were on their way to the Himalayas through Haridwar. When Bhima felt the need for water, he stabbed his knee to the ground to create a pool of water.
The water of the Ganges flows into this tank. A dam located close to the tank is also worth watching. The tank is also lined with wonderfully laid-out gardens. The surroundings of the tank are fragrant with the flowers. In addition, there are fountains adding to the beauty of the location.
